چکیده

Interleaving the chip-level sequence resulting from spreading before transmission in direct spread code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems have been reported to allow significant improvements over conventional (non chipinterleaved) DS-CDMA. This transmission scheme has been shown to be of particular interest when used in conjunction with iterative receivers, allowing performance close to the multiple access (MAI) and intersymbol (ISI) interference-free case to be reached. This paper addresses the application of chip-interleaving to existing or near-future DS-CDMA systems. An interleaving pattern is introduced that allows the orthogonality property to be retained between interleaved and non-interleaved signals. In addition, a low-complexity receiver based on iterative channel equalization is designed for the multicode downlink of chipinterleaved DS-CDMA systems. Numerical simulations show that used in conjunction with the proposed interleaving scheme, the proposed receiver allows the interference-free performance of the non-interleaved case to be attained.

Combined space-time chip equalization and parallel interference cancellation for DS-CDMA downlink with spatial multiplexing

In the downlink of traditional Single Input Single Output (SISO) DS-CDMA systems, multipath propagation destroys the orthogonality of the user signals and causes Multi-User Interference (MUI). Chip equalization can restore the orthogonality and suppress the MUI. In the context of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) DS-CDMA systems, spatial multiplexing emits independant data streams from the ...

Space-Time Chip Equalization for Maximum Diversity Space-Time Block Coded DS-CDMA Downlink Transmission

In the downlink of DS-CDMA, frequency-selectivity destroys the orthogonality of the user signals and introduces multiuser interference (MUI). Space-time chip equalization is an efficient tool to restore the orthogonality of the user signals and suppress the MUI. Furthermore, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication techniques can result in a significant increase in capacity. This pap...

Blind Chip-rate Equalisation for Ds-cdma Downlink Receiver

A dispersive channel in the DS-CDMA downlink destroys the orthogonality of the synchronous users’ spreading sequences. In this paper, we aim to re-establish this orthogonality blindly by means of a common chip-level equaliser. The adaptation algorithm is based on a constant modulus criterion forcing the various user symbols onto a constant modulus, for which a stochastic gradient descent algori...

Iterative Channel Equalization For The Multicode DS-CDMA Downlink

This paper proposes an iterative receiver derived from recent advances in narrowband turbo equalization for the multicode transmission scheme of the downlink of DSCDMA systems with long scrambling sequences. The proposed scheme is based on a chip-rate linear equalizer exchanging soft information on the composite multiuser signal with the channel decoder in an iterative process. When all spreadi...

HARQ Throughput Performance of DS-CDMA Using Frequency-Domain ICI Cancellation

The bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel can be significantly improved by the use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE). However, the presence of a residual inter-chip interference (ICI) after FDE distorts the orthogonality among the spreading codes and the BER performance of the multicode DS-CDMA degrades as the number of multiplex order increase...
